FM and Digital Repeater Info

Our club maintains a number of analog-FM and digital VHF and UHF repeaters for your use. This page lists these machines, including frequencies, PL tones, and digital access parameters you’ll need.

Repeaters Operated by WEARS:

REC / TRANS

145.150 / 144.550 t131.8 W3CRC Repeater

This is an FM and multi-mode digital repeater located in Derry Twp. with DMR, Fusion, DStar, P-25 and NXDN modes.  It will pass DMR (both slot 1 and slot 2) and you and the other operator need to use the same slot, Color code 1, and the talkgroup you desire. (For example, we suggest a convention of Slot 2, Color Code 1 and Talkgroup 9 for local comms.) The machine is also equipped for P-25 Phase 1, using a NAC of 293. And also NXDN, using a RAN of 1. Whatever mode you go into the repeater is the mode that will be repeated. We STRONGLY suggest that FM users program the 131.8 PL in both encode and decode (transmit/receive) so that you are not bothered by the sound of digital transmissions that may occur.  There is NO internet connectivity, ergo you cannot connect over the Brandmaster, TGIF, Wires-X, D-Star reflectors, etc.  It is a local only machine.

Once linked, it will stay linked for 15 minutes after last local RF activity. You can unlink sooner if you wish and please unlink when you are done using a room. Doc Sam usually has this connected to the Keystone West room which is a group of interconnected western Pennsylvania Fusion repeaters.

147.180 / 147.780 t131.8 W3LWW

This is dual-mode Yaesu repeater located near Greensburg capable of operating in either the analog FM mode or Yaesu’s Fusion System (a/k/a C4FM modulation). It automatically detects the modulation on the input (FM or Fusion) and repeats it using the same mode. This repeater is used primarily for FM and is NOT currently interconnected to Yaesu’s Wires-X system.

145.440 / 144.840 WC3PS Multi-mode DIGITAL-only (No FM)

This repeater is located near Greensburg and currently has a power output of 5 watts (to be increased later.) It consists of a Yaesu repeater controlled by an MMDVM board allowing it to operate as a multi-mode digital ONLY repeater (NO FM retransmission). It repeats DMR, DStar and Yaesu Fusion (C4FM) signals, and is interconnected to the Internet allowing connection with DMR BrandmasterTalkgroups, DStar reflectors and Yaesu Fusion rooms.

Regarding YSF Fusion “rooms”: they are not the same as those hosted on the Wires-X node system, and are unique to MMDVM equipped repeaters and hotspot users, though you will find there is some overlap where third parties have cross patched rooms.

The DStar side is sometimes connected to the Pennsylvania reflector REF063C, and this connection may be changed by users initiating the appropriate DStar commands from your radio. When no longer using a DStar room, please Unlink from the reflector by using the “U” command on your DStar radio.

The DMR side is Color Code 1. Time Slot 1 is connected 24/7 toBrandmaster PA Statewide Talkgroup 3124. Other wide area talkgroups can be connected by users initiating a Group Call key up on Time Slot 1. Time Slot 2 is generally used for local (repeater only) comms using Local 9 talkgroup, as well as TAC communications initiated by users initiating a Group Call key up on the desired TAC talkgroup on Time Slot 2. All user initiated connections will automatically drop 15 minutes after the last RF transmission received by the repeater. WEARS also has our own Internet connected Talkgroup which is Brandmaster Group 310220, which we refer to as “VTAC” or “TAC V”. This repeater retransmits the Western PA DMR Net on the WPA Talkgroup (31422) on Slot 2 on Wednesday Evenings at 7:30 PM, and also the PA Statewide DMR Net on Slot 1 on the PA Statewide Talkgroup (3142) on Tuesday evenings at 8:00 PM.

442.150 / 447.150 (FM mode PL t131.8) WC3PS Multi-mode DIGITAL AND  FM REPEATER

This repeater is located at the 911 Center near Greensburg and currently has a power output of 20 watts. It consists of a Yaesu repeater controlled by an MMDVM board allowing it to operate as a multi-mode digital repeater accommodating FM retransmissions as well. It repeats DMR, DStar and Yaesu Fusion (C4FM) signals, as well as APCO P25 Phase I and NXDN and is interconnected to the Internet allowing connection with DMR BRANDMASTER Talkgroups, DStar reflectors and Yaesu Fusion rooms. Connection with P25 groups and NXDN groups is currently not supported.

The DMR functions accommodates transmissions using Color Code 1 on BOTH Slot 1 and Slot 2 independently. Please note the following about the differences between the time Slots and usage on this machine.

WEARS also has our own Internet connected Talkgroup which is Brandmaster Group 310221, which we refer to as “UTAC”.

Regarding YSF Fusion “rooms”: they are not the same as those hosted on the Wires-X node system, and are unique to MMDVM equipped repeaters and hotspot users, though you will find there is some overlap where third parties have cross patched rooms. You can locate YSF Rooms using your Yaesu rig using the same procedures you use with Wires-X.  When you are done communicating via a room PLEASE BE SURE to disconnect from the room so as not to tie up the repeater with Internet generated traffic.

The DStar mode is available for local DStar communications through the repeater and is also available for connection to Icom’s DStar reflector system. You can link and unlink from reflectors by initiating the appropriate DStar commands from your radio. When no longer using a DStar reflector PLEASE BE SURE to send an Unlink command to disconnect the reflector so as not to tie up the repeater with Internet generated traffic.

The P25 (Phase I) mode repeats these transmissions locally through the repeater. Users with equipment for this mode should program your radio to use NAC 293.

The NXDN (aka Nexedge or Iden) mode repeats these transmissions locally through the repeater. Users with equipment for this mode should program your radio to use RAN 1.
